Herbal Colon Cleanse - Effective Solutions

By Charlotte Cole

Colon care has become almost cocktail party conversation over the past years, leading to huge displays of herbal colon cleanse products on every store shelf. Herbs have been used for thousands of years to treat every sort of sickness, pain, condition and even mental illness. Migraines, labor pains and even toothaches had their own herbal mixtures prepared by tribesmen or even country doctors.

Doctors have believed for hundreds of years that the colon is the cause of all types of illnesses and problems. When a colon gets lazy and becomes inefficient at removing waste, the waste literally sits there and rots. This causes gas, bloating and stomach cramps to say the least.

To prevent chronic constipation, many sufferers have turned to a multitude of herbal remedies ranging from teas to tinctures to pills to entire dieting and regimens. The simpler methods for a real herbal colon cleanse just require you to take a few tablets perhaps a few times a day with no other changes to your lifestyle or diet other than suggesting a higher intake of fluids.

Most of the popular products on the market today contain some sort of blend that includes licorice, fennel, slippery elm and cascara bark and ginger root. When these herbs are in tablet or pill form, there's no taste at all. They might spell a bit potent in the bottle, but other than that, there's nothing to worry about.

Directions are outlined on the packages, and these should be followed. Instructions usually say to start off with one tablet three times a day and adjust accordingly over the next few days. An herbal colon cleanse product is almost guaranteed to work in everyone, once the correct dosage is found. Of course, your goal is to be free of bloating and gas, have at least one normal bowel movement a day, and not suffer from stomach pains and diarrhea.

For someone taking this kind of preparation for the first time, you may indeed experience some stomach pains and cramping in the beginning, especially if you suffer from chronic constipation. This is normal - your colon is experiencing the same thing you would if you suddenly decided to spent two hours at the gym after a six month absence. It's just not used to this kind of movement and exercise.

There are almost no side effects, but for those there are, they are actually beneficial. Of course, too many pills can result in diarrhea, but this is because of improperly titrated dosages. The real side effects are when the toxins are being flushed from your colon and through your pores - you could suffer from some breakouts. People report minor cases of acne on their faces and even their arms and occasionally their backs, but these symptoms are easily treated and go away by themselves with no problem. Once the built-up toxins have finally been dissipated, you'll feel much better all over.

After a few weeks you might actually see that you've dropped a few pounds. Some people experience weight loss of over 15 pounds within a month or so. Your tummy area will show improvement as well. You may not get that "six pack" you've been hoping for, but you will certainly see a difference no matter how much you weigh - even slim individuals find their clothes fitting better and their tummies looking flatter.
