An Intro To Detoxing

By Skye Summers

Do you wake up every morning rested, refreshed and keen to go? Are you full of energy and enthusiasm for the best part of your waking day? Or do you spend a lot of your time feeling sort of like a limp rag, tired and under the weather from the instant you get up in the morning? If you're in the second class (and you'd be surprised at what number of folks are) no doubt you are asking yourself why the heck you feel like this. You get enough sleep, you eat enough food, there isn't any medical problem that your doctor can identify, so why should you feel under par?

Maybe it isn't such a poser if you glance at the way most of us live our lives. We keep busy, demanding schedules; we leave very little time for relaxation and rest; we reveal ourselves to noise, stress and anxiety; we eat nutritionally poor-quality food and we chivvy ourselves into keeping going by dosing up the eyebrows with dangerous substances such as caffeine, tobacco and alcohol. Not only that, but our systems have to cope with the flood of chemicals and other chemical additives in our foodstuffs as well as the cocktail of poisons in the environment. Frankly, it is no wonder so many of us feel off colour. Under this amazing accumulated bombardment, our poor bodies naturally respond by becoming sluggish and out of a kind.

We can do something about this situation, however. If we change the types of foods we put into our bodies and adjust our lifestyles, we can eliminate the overload to our systems. That way our natural energy levels start to return and we begin to feel healthier, fitter and happier.

And that is what a detox program is all about.

Detoxing is the process of cleansing your overworked system and helping it to function more efficiently.

Do you need to detox?

When your system is overloaded, your body responds with a variety of symptoms, such as:

lndigestion

Sensations of bloatedness

Burping

Constipation

Nausea

Headaches

Poor complexion

Poor-quality hair â€" dry, fragile or lank

Persistent fatigue

Poor concentration

Minor illnesses such as cold sores and mouth ulcers

Irritation

Depression

Poorâ€"quality sleep at night

If you're all too familiar with some or all these symptoms, then detoxing, and possibly even diet and weight loss, might be the answer.
