Why Should Someone Do a Colon Cleanse? Is It Worthwhile or Is It Just Nonsense?

By Horace B. Kimball

Why would anyone want to do a colon flush? Is it just a trend? Is it a cool sixties decade flirtation with health or is it legitimate health consideration? A good colon cleanse is in fact something most people living in western societies need. The western diet is rich in fast foods, fat, and often devoid of real fiber. Consider that a lifetime of such food consumption can clog the abdominal tract with built-up fecal matter.

The intestinal tract is really the human body's sewage system. It's also a part of the digestion. Many do not know this but imperative nutrients are absorbed into the bloodstream thru the intestinal wall; digestion doesn't end with the breakdown of food in the gut.

Therefore if your intestinal walls are clogged, you're short circuiting your vitality. Many nontraditional doctors believe that most illness really starts with a clogged colon. That belief is not as derided as it used to be. Colon cleanser products now are unremarkable with companies like Procter and Bet offering crackers and psyllium seed drink additives.

Other products from "hard core" naturopathic or herbal expert corporations supply an herbal colon cleanse, liver cleanse, blood clean, gall bladder clean and kidney cleanses as well. These are serious products which make claims to clean even the most toughened "mucoid plaque" build up in the abdominal and enormous colon walls.

One more reason to do colon cleanse is just to improve one's energy levels. When the intestinal are moderately clean, one's blood is cleaner and when the blood and organs are correctly detoxified, the derivative is bigger energy. If a colon cleansing product is not something that's palatable to you, then try and eat more fiber-rich foods like plants, fruit, grains and nuts. Those foods have fiber that function as sweeping agents when the intestines turn on their peristaltic action. These foods are also nutrient rich, which nutriments you and I need on a daily basis.

A different reason to clean out your colon (and blood) is that is slows ageing. Ageing is, in part, a byproduct of too many poisons in the body. When these toxins are eliminated, your cells perform their functions better. Plus, the antioxidising levels in your body are minimized, which antioxidants contribute to premature aging also.
